Tourism & Membership Manager Job Description

Position Overview:

The Chamber & Development Council of Crawford County (CDC) is seeking a motivated and organized individual to serve as the Tourism & Membership Manager. This position plays a key role in planning and executing tourism events and initiatives, while also supporting membership events, engagement, and growth.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, managing multiple projects, planning events, and contributing to the success of local businesses and the community.

Mission of the CDC:

The CDC is dedicated to fostering growth and prosperity across industrial, commercial, retail and tourism sectors. We serve as a trusted, resourceful, and knowledgeable Chamber & Development Council, uniting businesses, individuals, and communities for a vibrant county.

Primary Responsibilities:

Events & Community Initiatives

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute tourism events, including but not limited to Tri City BBQ Fest, Winter Snowcial, Manilla Madness, Hot Summer Nights, and other community initiatives

  • Manage event logistics, including vendor coordination, sponsor support, permits, timelines, and volunteer coordination

  • Assist in developing new event ideas and enhancing existing events

  • Ensure events are organized, well-run, and aligned with CDC goals

Membership & Business Engagement

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for CDC members

  • Manage membership records, including maintaining accurate data within the CRM system

  • Coordinate membership processes, including invoicing support, renewals, and follow-up communication

  • Track membership status and assist with retention efforts through consistent communication

  • Support membership recruitment efforts through outreach and relationship-building

  • Conduct member check-ins and visits to maintain strong relationships with local businesses

Member Programs & Events

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute member-focused events and programs such as the Women in Business luncheon, Lunch & Learns, Business & Industry Golf Tournament, CDC Annual Meeting/Member Appreciation, Business Appreciation Breakfasts, and similar initiatives

  • Coordinate logistics, including scheduling, speakers, venues, and materials

  • Support the development of programming that provides value to CDC members

  • Ensure events are organized, well-attended, and aligned with member needs

Event Promotion Support

  • Collaborate with marketing support to ensure events and initiatives are effectively promoted

  • Provide event details, content, and coordination support for social media, newsletters, and website updates

  • Assist in distributing promotional materials and ensuring accurate event information is communicated

Organizational Support

  • Assist with general office operations as part of a small team environment

  • Provide office support, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to inquiries

  • Support event-related record keeping, reporting, and follow-up

  • Assist with additional projects and duties that support the CDC’s overall mission

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field preferred, but not required

  • Previous experience in event planning, customer service, administrative support, or a related field preferred

  • Experience working with computer systems such as CRM platforms, email marketing tools, or similar systems is a plus

  • Knowledge of Crawford County and the surrounding area is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

  • Comfortable with administrative tasks, follow-through, and task tracking

  • Proficiency with computer programs or willingness to learn (email, spreadsheets, CRM systems, email marketing tools, Canva, etc.)

  • Ability to problem-solve, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing needs

Work Environment:

  • Primarily based in Denison, with local travel throughout Crawford County

  • The primary working hours are Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. However, there is a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings and weekends for events.

  • Opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-office and remote work (1 day only).

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and objects weighing up to 10 pounds

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $45,000 – $50,000, depending on experience
